MEMBERSHIP APPRECIATION DAY
Thank you for being a member at the Glendale Sports Center!  Stop by after your workout on Wednesday, November 30th and make your own parfait.  You will also be entered into a drawing to win prizes.
Join us from 8am-10am to say goodbye to our Health and Wellness Director, Ellyn Wood, who is retiring that day!

HAPPY RETIREMENT
Ellyn Wood, our Health and Wellness Director is retiring November 30th, 2016 after 35 years of employment with the YMCA.  During Ellyn’s time with the YMCA she has run sports leagues, taught a variety of classes, planned senior outings including her famous casino trips and even supervised a pool.  Ellyn will be missed dearly by members, staff and especially by the seniors who she makes coffee for every morning.  Ellyn plans to travel after retiring and spend time with her grandchildren.  We congratulate you on your well-deserved retirement and wish you all the best.  We will miss you Ellyn!

MAINTAIN, DON’T GAIN
This holiday season, the only thing that should be “stuffed” is the turkey. Many Americans gain between 1 and 5 pounds each holiday season. While it might not sound like much, most people never manage to lose those extra pounds.  You are invited to join our annual Maintain, Don’t Gain holiday challenge. This free six-week challenge provides members with tips to help maintain your weight throughout the holiday season.  To be a part of the challenge you must weigh in with one of our trainers Monday, November 21st-Wednesday, November 23rd.  Your final weigh in must be completed by Monday, January 2nd-Wednesday, January 4th.  Lose or maintain your weight during the six weeks to receive a prize.  The person who loses the most weight will win an additional prize.

YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT
For three months every year, teens can learn about the state’s democratic system, and how laws and government shape people’s lives. They explore all major aspects of state government, filling roles as politicians, lobbyists, attorneys, and journalists.  Then they convene for a mock general session at the State Capitol where they write bills, lobby, debate, and vote, all using the house floor, senate chambers, and offices of the State Capitol. This is the only program of its kind that offers this type of experience and access to Colorado’s legislative offices. The fall 2016 session is forming now. Click here to join!

WOMEN’S SELF DEFENSE
The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a martial arts program. Our courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. instructors and provide each student with a workbook/reference manual.  This class is a three day course December 2nd-4th.  Click here to learn more and to register.

THANKSGIVING TOILETRIES DRIVE
Please consider contributing to the Thanksgiving Toiletries Drive, hosted by the Kids Program. The drive will last from October 31- November 18. All items will go to the Warren Village Women and Children’s Shelter. The shelter is requesting new, unopened toiletries. Items they have requested include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, Band-Aids, antibacterial ointment, hand sanitizer, feminine hygiene products, and baby formula. You may find bins in the Kids & Teen Rooms. If you have any questions, please contact Cheyenne, our Childcare Site Director at cmurano@denverymca.org.

COLORADO GIVES DAY
Give for the kids on Colorado Gives Day, December 6th, 2016.  Every year, the Denver YMCA helps more than 20,000 kids learn, grow & thrive.  Help us reach more by making a donation to the YMCA on Colorado Gives Day.

The Glendale Sports Center at Infinity Park, managed by the YMCA has a significant impact on the families in Glendale and counts heavily on donations to provide:
